Yoguide – Helping The Blind Do Yoga At Home

In his presentation, UX designer Siddharth Ahuja walks us through his award-winning project „Yoguide“, developed as part of his final project at Copenhagen Institute of Interaction Design.

According to research, blind people tend to be more obese compared to sighted people, as it is difficult for them to leave their homes to exercise.

The Yoguide app aims at helping the visually impaired to do yoga on their own at home. It acts as a personal trainer, keeping an eye on people, providing specific instructions and correcting errors. It uses a phone camera with computer vision to detect the body's joints and orientation, compares it to correct orientations and guides people accordingly.

The UXDA-jury commended the concept for its innovative approach to assistive tech and its high market relevance, as it could potentially also be interesting for a broader target group.
