Three questions for the project team
What was the particular challenge of the project from a UX point of view?
The particular UX challenge of our project was creating a service that helps users reduce their smart device usage while the platform of this service is primarily on the smart device itself. There’s an inherent dilemma of using more of this service to reduce overall usage.
Additionally, we had to design a user interface that coherently integrated with our digital ring, ensuring seamless interaction between the ring and the app.
Essentially, we aimed to create a smart ecosystem to reduce people's online engagement without imposing boring restrictions like other limitation apps. The challenge was to make controlling social media addiction cool and engaging.
What was your personal highlight in the development process? Was there an aha!-moment, was there a low point?
During our user research, we discovered
people dislike restrictions from traditional social media apps, preferring
control without limitations, and they value community engagement. They also
trust real data visualization. This unique insight led us to integrate
beautiful data visualization and community features, enhancing user appeal and
encouraging offline enjoyment. Collaborating as a team to focus on service
value, rather than process alone, was a highlight. Our aha!- moment was
proposing color coding to indicate smart device usage seriousness, aligning
with our project values. Managing extensive data for app visualizations
presented challenges, alongside minor team issues, which we successfully
resolved.
Where do you see yourself and the project in the next five years?
We envision our project for enhancing capabilities,
incorporating user feedback, and leveraging AI and machine learning to offer personalized experiences. Over the next five years, we foresee it addressing social media addiction and online engagement, promoting balanced living amid
rising interest in devices. We aim to enable users to achieve goals and manage
digital interactions seamlessly. Personally, we aim to be established UX
designers, recognizing that effective interface design involves deep research
and understanding human behaviour. Successfully influencing behaviour in UX
projects builds our confidence in creating user-friendly systems.
