Three questions for the project team
What was the particular challenge of the project from a UX point of view?
Our biggest challenge is using mobile apps to streamline laundry processes for individuals with ADHD. We must ensure that the communication tone and visuals are uplifting without overwhelming the user's attention. At the same time, we need to design ADHD-friendly laundry plans and action routes. This is to make Laundo not require user autonomy like ordinary to-do apps but set more appropriate goals and tasks for users.
What was your personal highlight in the development process? Was there an aha!-moment, was there a low point?
One of the aha! Moments were when we were doing preliminary research and defining the design challenge, and we were committed to finding the user's pain points and finalizing solutions. During the interviews and the document Yudu process, we realized more than once that serving ADHD users is not about helping them to be more self-disciplined or even helping them to be less disorganized. We decided to respect and embrace the identity of ADHD and adapt the design to the user's lifestyle. As Mike Oliver said: "one can not disabled by their impairments but by the disabling barriers they face in society"
Where do you see yourself and the project in the next five years?
Adaptive smart homes are the future, and I'm proud that Laundo is already combining technology, inclusivity, and customized user experiences. We aim to continue exploring the combination of inclusive design and lifestyle and continuously improve Laundo's services. Suggestions from technicians, doctors, and users are valuable to us, and we will strive to incorporate interdisciplinary and diverse insights to iterate on new design challenges.
