Three questions for the project team

What was the particular challenge of the project from a UX point of view?
A particular challenge of Teen Saver was designing user-centred, practical assistance for teenagers to overcome illegal cyber gambling addiction, which they find difficult to resolve independently. In other words, the focus was on creating a user experience that genuinely helps and engages teenagers, rather than just providing a simple intervention. From interviews with teenagers addicted to gambling, it was found that proactive prevention measures are needed, such as blocking gambling-related social network service advertisements and messages. Therefore, Teen Saver prioritises prevention and focuses on offering proactive blocking functions, including real-time blocking of suspicious gambling activities and prompt reporting systems.

What was your personal highlight in the development process? Was there an aha!-moment, was there a low point?
An aha!-moment was that underage teenagers find it difficult to solve problems themselves when addicted to highly addictive cyber gambling. To effectively address this issue, it emphasises a multifaceted approach and collaboration involving teenagers, parents, teachers, counsellors and police. A low point was the absence of prompt blocking measures for suspicious illegal gambling activities and minimal legal penalties. Most importantly, government leadership to intervene proactively and close cooperation are needed. To address this, Teen Saver focuses on real-time blocking services that notify parents when children access suspicious websites or accounts related to illegal cyber gambling and prompt reporting system by integrative department.

Where do you see yourself and the project in the next five years?
In the next five years, I envision Teen Saver evolving into a leading platform not only for addressing gambling addiction but also for tackling other behavioural and mental health challenges, such as alcoholism, drug addiction and anxiety disorders. It plans to expand globally and establish partnerships with educational institutions, mental health organisations and governments to create a robust support network. Personally, I am passionate about innovative projects that improve mental and physical health using user-centred approaches and advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence. I aspire to collaborate with diverse professionals in physical and mental wellness, designing experiences that positively impact society.
