Three questions to the project team
What was the particular challenge of the project from a UX point of view?
From a user experience (UX) perspective, the particular challenge of the project was designing a product that effectively alleviates lower back pain while being simple, safe, and suitable for users of various age groups. We needed to balance the complexity of the technology with ease of use, particularly when integrating electrotherapy and heat therapy functions, ensuring users could intuitively understand the operation process. Additionally, the design had to account for ergonomic considerations, such as enabling comfortable use for individuals of different body types and minimizing potential discomfort or harm from incorrect usage.
What was your personal highlight in the development process? Was there an aha!-moment, was there a low point?
My personal highlight in the development process was discovering how to effectively combine electrotherapy and heat therapy functions in a user-friendly manner. The 'aha!' moment came when we successfully designed a simple and intuitive control interface, which significantly enhanced the user experience and resolved earlier issues with complicated operations during testing. The low point, however, was during the initial trials when the product failed to meet our goal of alleviating lower back pain effectively, and user feedback highlighted a lack of human-centered design. That period was full of setbacks, but it motivated us to conduct deeper user interviews and identify the real needs and areas for improvement.
Where do you see yourself and the project in the next five years?
In the next five years, I envision further advancing the project’s technology, such as integrating more advanced sensing technologies and smart features to enhance its applications in the health management field. I also plan to expand the market reach by collaborating with physical therapy clinics, rehabilitation centers, and government health programs to benefit more individuals suffering from chronic back pain. Personally, I hope to continue growing in the field of health technology and design, exploring more innovative solutions to improve people's quality of life.
