Three questions to the project team

What was the particular challenge of the project from a UX point of view?
The challenge was designing a platform to meet the needs of both stroke patients and their families. Patients needed a simple, intuitive interface with emotional support to overcome negative feelings and regain confidence in recovery. Families required clear progress tracking to understand the patient’s journey and offer timely support. These features had to be user-friendly and efficient for both patients and families.

Additionally, when designing emotional support and data visualization features, I had to balance emotional engagement with functionality. The platform needed to make users feel understood, without overwhelming them with complexity.

The UI also had to prioritize clarity and provide an engaging, intuitive experience.

What was your personal highlight in the development process? Was there an aha!-moment, was there a low point?
My research revealed a weak communication link between adult children and their elderly parents, with children often missing emotional changes in parents despite their importance in recovery. To address this, I designed an emotional communication feature to improve interactions and help family members offer support. Additionally, I created a health data sharing feature for tracking health remotely and providing timely assistance.

User testing confirmed that family involvement boosts motivation and recovery speed. Introducing health progress visualization increased motivation and eased family anxiety.

Early feedback showed the interface was too complicated and text-heavy, prompting a redesign with a cleaner, more approachable layout.

Where do you see yourself and the project in the next five years?
In five years, I envision MindCo making a meaningful impact in stroke rehabilitation, supporting patients and families while collaborating with healthcare providers, insurers, and health-tech enterprises to broaden its applications.

Technologically, I plan to integrate AI technology to deliver more personalized rehabilitation recommendations and enable real-time health data monitoring through wearable devices, further enhancing the user experience.

Personally, I aim to deepen my expertise in healthcare design and explore applying UX to complex systems. I also look forward to leading interdisciplinary projects that integrate technology and design to address real-world challenges.
