Three questions to the project team

What was the particular challenge of the project from a UX point of view?
The primary UX challenge was consolidating the workflows of 20+ disparate tools into a single, intuitive dashboard while preserving the unique functionality and data integrity of each source. Finance users, ranging from analysts to executives, had highly varied needs, requiring a scalable, role-based design. Another challenge was ensuring the interface was both powerful and simple—balancing robust customization options with ease of use for non-technical users. Delivering actionable insights without overwhelming users with complexity was a key focus, demanding iterative prototyping and user validation.

What was your personal highlight in the development process? Was there an aha!-moment, was there a low point?
A personal highlight was the first user feedback session where executives interacted with the Minimum Lovable Product (MLP) and recognized how Uno could reduce month-end reporting workflows from 10 hours to 1. The moment they saw the potential for efficiency gains validated months of effort and underscored the importance of our work.

The low point came early on when gathering insights revealed just how fragmented and inconsistent existing workflows were—there was skepticism about whether such a centralized solution could work. The 'aha!' moment was realizing that personalization and authoritative data sources were the key to gaining user trust, which informed Uno’s design and GenAI integration.

Where do you see yourself and the project in the next five years?
In five years, Uno will evolve into an indispensable tool for AWS Finance, expanding its role as a centralized hub for enterprise performance management. Leveraging telemetry and machine learning, Uno will deliver hyper-personalized experiences, predictive analytics, and proactive insights that enable even greater efficiency and agility. It will likely expand beyond AWS Finance, serving other departments within Amazon and becoming a model for centralized data management across industries. Personally, we see ourselves continuing to innovate at the intersection of technology and user experience, creating solutions that simplify complexity and empower users with actionable insights.
