Three questions to the project team

What was the particular challenge of the project from a UX point of view?
The biggest UX challenge was designing for a highly diverse audience with varied cultural, linguistic, and technological backgrounds. Immigrant women have unique healthcare challenges, from understanding medical terms to navigating complex systems, and we needed to address these without overwhelming them.

Striking a balance between simplicity and functionality was key, as was ensuring accessibility for users who might not be tech-savvy. We also faced the challenge of creating culturally sensitive features that felt intuitive and welcoming across multiple demographics. Constant iteration, user feedback, and testing were vital in refining the interface to meet these diverse needs.

What was your personal highlight in the development process? Was there an aha!-moment, was there a low point?
The highlight of the process was hearing from users during testing. When someone shared that the platform made them feel less anxious about navigating healthcare, it was a powerful reminder of why we started this project. The aha! moment came when we realized how critical culturally personalized features were—something as simple as offering language preferences or culturally aware companions transformed the user experience.

The low point was early on when we struggled to prioritize features with limited resources. It felt overwhelming at times, but it also encouraged us to keep moving forward. We regained clarity and momentum by focusing on user feedback and the most impactful solutions.

Where do you see yourself and the project in the next five years?
In five years, we see WE becoming a trusted, global platform, empowering immigrant women in countries worldwide. The vision is to expand features, integrate advanced AI, and partner with organizations to reach more people in need. Personally, we hope to grow our design studio into a hub for meaningful, impact-driven projects. WE would continue evolving to address emerging challenges, ensuring it stays relevant and impactful.

Beyond being just a tool, we hope WE becomes a movement—a platform that addresses healthcare barriers, sparks conversations, fosters connections, and inspires systemic change. Our ultimate goal is to create a world where no one feels isolated or underserved, regardless of where they are.
