Three questions to the project team

What was the particular challenge of the project from a UX point of view?
The core UX challenge was designing for highly divergent personas—from users with low financial literacy to data-driven, risk-oriented investors. This required balancing clarity and complexity through a scalable information architecture. We applied progressive disclosure to surface advanced functionality without overwhelming novices, and refined visual hierarchy to support intuitive navigation. Extensive usability testing helped us align mental models across user segments, reduce cognitive load, and maintain a consistent interaction paradigm—resulting in an inclusive yet performance-oriented experience.

What was your personal highlight in the development process? Was there an aha!-moment, was there a low point?
One of the most memorable moments came during usability testing with older users. Since we had significantly restructured the navigation, we were concerned that long-time users might struggle to adapt. But to our surprise, many completed key tasks with ease—even without any prompts. The true aha! moment came when a participant said, “This app feels like it was designed by someone who understands me. Everything I need is right here—I don’t need anything else.” That single comment validated months of work. It proved that when you design with empathy, and align the experience with users’ mental models, even major changes can feel intuitive and empowering

Where do you see yourself and the project in the next five years?
We envision BES Mobil as the leading financial wellness platform for millions—extending beyond pensions to encompass comprehensive savings, planning, and educational tools. Within five years, we plan to provide users with access to all pension funds, seamless fund and asset transfers, and sophisticated personalized insights. These insights will leverage risk profiles, peer benchmarking, and gamification to engage and empower users in building sustainable savings habits. Our commitment is to design inclusive, intuitive experiences that transform complex financial decisions into confident, long-term actions.
