Three questions to the project team
What was the particular challenge of the project from a UX point of view?
The primary UX challenge was to design a mobile-first HRMS platform that’s inclusive of remote and desk-less workers, while remaining deeply customisable for diverse organisational needs. The earlier interface lacked intuitive guidance, struggled with complexity, data-heavy HR workflows, and fell short of the seamless usability people now expect from everyday consumer apps. Importantly, we faced the challenge of transforming HRMS from a static, transactional tool into a dynamic, evolutionary system that grows with the organisation and adapts to each user’s journey. Our objective was to craft a personalised, intelligent interface that not only empowers employees, but also fosters a connected work life through an integrated social layer.
What was your personal highlight in the development process? Was there an aha!-moment, was there a low point?
Our breakthrough came when we stopped looking at HR workflows as isolated tasks and started seeing them as moments in an employee’s life cycle. Whether it was clocking in, applying for leave, or completing onboarding, each action reflected a deeper need: clarity, connection, recognition. That’s when we realised this isn’t just about simplifying processes; it’s about designing for emotion, momentum, and belonging. This shift redefined our approach from designing transactional interfaces to orchestrating engaging, intelligent, and deeply personalised experiences to bring Sapien alive. With Beta launch our vision was further validated with 100+ customers echoing our belief that HR can be both profoundly human and refreshingly efficient!
Where do you see yourself and the project in the next five years?
In the next five years, Sapien will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of work, evolving to a go-to workplace companion for millions of employees across the globe. As mobile-first and distributed workforces become the norm, Sapien will seamlessly integrate into daily routines anticipating needs, guiding actions, and fostering stronger team connections. It will champion not just productivity, but well-being, inclusion, and belonging; making team bonding and cultural engagement core to the employee experience. With AI-powered insights, Sapien will empower organisations to make data-driven, unbiased decisions that promote fairness, equality, and growth at scale. It won’t just keep up with the pace of change, it will help to define it!
