Three questions to the project team
What was the particular challenge of the project from a UX point of view?
The core UX challenge of Bytey was reducing decision fatigue while increasing engagement in food ordering. Traditional delivery apps overwhelm users with endless lists, filters, and promotions, forcing them to think harder each time they order. ByteyAI aimed to reverse this by unifying AI-driven taste tagging, conversational recommendations, gamified mechanics, and a community feed into a single, intuitive flow—without users feeling they were switching modes.
Each function was treated as a UX milestone and tested as it was built. By iterating at an MVP level in short cycles, we gathered real user feedback early and continuously, allowing the experience to evolve while maintaining clarity and usability.
What was your personal highlight in the development process? Was there an aha!-moment, was there a low point?
Our defining “aha” moment came when we realized AI should not act as a separate tool, but as a native companion embedded in user intent. Instead of asking users to adapt to AI, ByteyAI adapts to how people naturally think about food—through taste, mood, habits, and social context.
A key milestone was the evolution from simple taste-tag classification to a user-centered taste profile that became the backbone of the product, powering recommendations, community content, and adaptive game mechanics. As complexity grew, we learned the importance of ruthless UX prioritization. Continuous tester feedback helped us reduce cognitive load, remove friction, and focus on experiences that made users feel understood and confident in their decisions.
Where do you see yourself and the project in the next five years?
Over the next five years, Bytey will evolve from an AI-powered food assistant into a taste-driven lifestyle platform. As AI advances, our responsibility is to keep the experience intuitive, trustworthy, and human-centered, regardless of underlying complexity.
We envision Bytey as a daily decision partner that helps users understand why something fits their preferences, not just what to choose. The UX foundation we’ve built allows the platform to scale across campuses, cities, and cultures while maintaining clarity and usability.
Our long-term goal is to show that AI-powered consumer products can enhance daily life not only through convenience, but by fostering meaningful human connection—while remaining deeply personalized and approachable.
