Three questions to the project team
What was the particular challenge of the project from a UX point of view?
The main UX challenge of Leeyo was balancing functionality and simplicity for three types of users: readers, authors, and bookstores. Each group has different needs, but the interface had to feel coherent and connected. Another challenge was translating the physical world of books and bookstores to a digital screen, creating a slow, thoughtful, and meaningful experience without losing usability or efficiency.
What was your personal highlight in the development process? Was there an aha!-moment, was there a low point?
My personal highlight was when, following a professor’s suggestion, I transformed Leeyo’s rigid, grid-based design into a more organic layout. This shift allowed each book to become a volumetric, tangible element, making the digital experience feel alive and connected to the physical world of reading. The low point was realizing the real complexity of designing a digital product for three essential user groups, readers, authors, and bookstores, where every role is equally important. It was also a reality check that not everything has to be immediate, and in such a large ecosystem, it is important to work with long-term goals in mind.
Where do you see yourself and the project in the next five years?
In the next five years, I see myself developing Leeyo further by completing the digital mapping of bookstores so the platform becomes fully functional for small, independent shops. The goal is to create practical connections between the digital platform and physical spaces, while ensuring authors receive fair compensation from second-hand book sales. I also aim to expand ReLeeyo into the e-commerce space, positioning it in the market as a reference platform dedicated exclusively to second-hand book sales, combining functionality, cultural value, and support for writers.
