Three questions to the project team
What was the particular challenge of the project from a UX point of view?
From a UX perspective, the main challenge was defining and narrowing the application's scope. Because Pulsey touches multiple domains, music, live events, and social interaction. The ideation phase generated a wide range of possible features. As the project progressed, I decided to focus on strengthening the core purpose of the experience: helping users feel emotionally close, even when physically apart. That's why I prioritise features that support presence and connection, and intentionally, elements that did not directly serve this main goal were either reduced or added as future work.
What was your personal highlight in the development process? Was there an aha!-moment, was there a low point?
A key moment in the project occurred when the focus expanded from interpersonal connection to intercultural connection. The concept evolved beyond connecting with distant loved ones to exploring how someone living abroad might experience the atmosphere of a beloved venue from their home country, or join a live event from a place they had never visited before. Initially, I was unsure about how users would respond to this idea, especially considering time zone differences and accessibility. However, conversations and interviews with users give a lot of positive feedback. This positive response inspired the decision to develop remote live events and venue-based experiences as a core feature of Pulsey.
Where do you see yourself and the project in the next five years?
Over the next five years, I imagine Pulsey growing on both personal and global levels. On a personal level, it would turn homes into music hubs that reflect how people live and feel, becoming a natural way to connect with loved ones at a distance—much like making a phone call. On a global level, Pulsey could bring live events from different parts of the world together, gradually expanding beyond its initial audience and evolving into a cultural bridge. Personally, I hope Pulsey continues to bring people closer to music and to one another, helping them feel a little less distant wherever they are.
