Luis Hug -multisensory audio production tool enhancing creativity, relaxation and independence for people with special needs

In her presentation, industrial designer Sophie Rolshoven walks us through her award winning project „Luis Hug“, developed as part of her final project at HTW Berlin | University of Applied Sciences.

About the Project: Luis Hug

Winner of the "UX Design Award Gold | New Talent" 2022

Luis Hug is a multisensory product enhancing creativity, relaxation and independency for people with special needs. By offering an intuitive interface it provides great flexibility without compromising the simplicity of use. This interactive sound device empowers users, no matter their possibilities to experiment with their sounds. Integrated sensors will automatically adapt the sounds to the user's demands by analyzing body data. Giving everyone the opportunity to operate it on their own.

UXDA Jury member Tapani Jokinen on the project:

»Luis hug is a great example of how technology can serve humans and provide empowerment. The concept would truly enable people with special needs to extend their way of expressing themselves in a creative and playful way together with their families and friends. It offers lots of possibilities and provides the feeling of developing oneself, of taking part in society and of sharing feelings and experiences with others.«
