Three questions for the project team

What was the particular challenge of the project from a UX point of view?
The UX challenges of the project were multifaceted. Firstly, challenging the original client idea to truly innovate by introducing novel approaches. Secondly, the time constraints to define, design, and launch the MVP, which required efficient and effective UX processes. Thirdly, to meet the needs of our client's clients, it was essential to align UX goals with their expectations and business objectives. Fourthly, the project required simplifying the financial language using metaphors and visual representations to make it accessible and understandable. Lastly, designing for "all" by considering diverse situations related to retirement planning was crucial to ensure inclusivity and meet the needs of a wide range of users.

What was your personal highlight in the development process? Was there an aha!-moment, was there a low point?
The main highlight was the workshops with stakeholders, users, and the design team. Some of the aha! moments we had was realising the importance of finding a balance between creating a solution for everyone while also making clear distinctions based on user groups' specific needs. The research helped us discover that the main problem users faced was their lack of understanding of their future financial challenges. To address this, we introduced a planning metaphor that related to everyday life. However, there were also low points, particularly with the complexity of the proposed design solution, requiring refinements after the launch. Time constraints posed a challenge as well, requiring us to prioritise and manage our time effectively.

Where do you see yourself and the project in the next five years?
As a team, we envision the project flourishing in the next five years, becoming a transformative force in the retirement planning landscape. We see ourselves continuously innovating and enhancing the omnichannel experience by incorporating research-driven insights. Our goal is to establish the project as a trusted and comprehensive platform that caters to the diverse needs of individuals seeking financial security in retirement. We strive to expand our user base, reaching a wider audience and making a positive impact on their lives. Through collaboration, dedication, and a user-centered approach, we are confident that we will create a lasting legacy, empowering individuals and their families to achieve lifelong financial well-being.
