Three questions for the project team

What was the particular challenge of the project from a UX point of view?
I faced several challenges with the Vimora app: creating an accurate matching algorithm to pair new mothers with the right elderly women, ensuring the app is emotionally sensitive and supportive, and designing an intuitive, easy-to-use interface for time-constrained mothers. Protecting user privacy and security, providing accessible and relevant resources, and catering to diverse cultural backgrounds were also critical. Additionally, building trust between new mothers and their mentors and maintaining user engagement over time was essential. Addressing these challenges ensures that Vimora effectively supports new mothers postpartum with guidance and companionship from experienced elderly women.

What was your personal highlight in the development process? Was there an aha!-moment, was there a low point?
The development of Vimora, an app designed to support new mothers by connecting them with experienced elderly women, was filled with rewarding highlights and valuable insights. A key highlight was the successful creation of a matching algorithm that paired users effectively. An aha!-moment during user research revealed the crucial need for emotional support, which shifted the focus to personal connections. A low point involved overcoming technical challenges, particularly ensuring secure communication and meeting the needs of both mothers and elderly women. Despite these hurdles, the iterative process, user-centric design, and commitment to data privacy culminated in an app that offers meaningful postpartum support.

Where do you see yourself and the project in the next five years?
In the next five years, Vimora aims to support new mothers during the postpartum period while empowering elderly women as valued companions. The vision includes enhancing services through localised versions and partnerships with health organisations. Prioritising user satisfaction, the plan involves refining the matching algorithm and expanding the support ecosystem to include a diverse resource library and virtual consultations. By fostering a strong community through interactive features and local meetups, and providing personalised emotional well-being tools and cutting-edge technology, Vimora ensures that new mothers and elderly companions receive the support they need and deserve.
