Three questions to the project team
What was the particular challenge of the project from a UX point of view?
The APCICT Virtual Academy serves three distinct user groups with diverse needs and goals: government ministries, academic institutions, and women entrepreneurs from the private sector. Thus, the core UX challenge behind this project was to design a unified online platform that responds to the different learning requirements of each target group while still maintaining an overall cohesive website experience. To solve this challenge, the platform was designed to support multiple user journeys, enabling learners to engage with course content in ways that reflect their individual needs.
What was your personal highlight in the development process? Was there an aha!-moment, was there a low point?
A personal highlight of this project was the continuous involvement of target users throughout the design process, facilitated through research activities such as KPI analyses, case studies, and user interviews. Additional co-creation sessions engaged key stakeholders during the concept development phase, while iterative user testing helped validate design decisions in the later stages of the project. These activities were conducted both online and in person, providing a broad range of insights to ensure that the final design directly addresses the needs of all users.
Where do you see yourself and the project in the next five years?
Within the coming years, we hope to see the APCICT Virtual Academy as an established cornerstone to advance knowledge on Information and Communication Technology for Sustainable Development (ICTD) across the Asia-Pacific region. As a central hub for learning resources, the APCICT Virtual Academy is positioned to become a key pillar in the United Nations' pursuit to push forward the Sustainable Development Goals and promote APCICT's work to more potential partner organizations.
