Three questions to the project team

What was the particular challenge of the project from a UX point of view?
The main UX challenge was making advanced food preservation technology understandable and trustworthy. Features like air sterilization and magnetic preservation are not immediately visible, which can make them feel abstract to users. The interface needed to explain what the technology does and how it benefits food freshness, without overwhelming users. Another challenge was designing an adaptive system that works across different cultural contexts. The UX had to feel intuitive for tech-savvy Chinese households, while remaining clean and straightforward for European users. Achieving this meant relying on familiar digital patterns and modular widgets that could scale and adapt without losing clarity, consistency, or brand identity.

What was your personal highlight in the development process? Was there an aha!-moment, was there a low point?
A key highlight was realizing how much trust can be built through small, well crafted interactions. The “aha!” moment came when animated feedback, color coding, and motion cues were combined to explain invisible processes like air circulation. Seeing users understand these features simply by observing the interface, confirmed the power of emotional micro-interactions in complex products. One of the more demanding phases was aligning usability and cultural expectations within a single system. Balancing regional preferences while maintaining a unified core UI required close collaboration and iteration. This process strengthened the solution and demonstrated how a flexible, widget-based system can successfully support global products.

Where do you see yourself and the project in the next five years?
As Haier Design global team, we see ourselves continuing to work at the intersection of UX strategy, system design, and global product development. This project represents an important milestone in building scalable, human-centered interfaces that make advanced technology approachable and meaningful. It reflects our ambition to design products that not only perform well, but also help people make smarter, more sustainable decisions in everyday life.
