Three questions for the project team

What was the particular challenge of the project from a UX point of view?
The biggest challenge was dealing with the evolving situation and the urgency of saving lives. Coordinating efforts across different time zones, managing disorganized initial stages, and pitching our design were also significant hurdles. Despite these challenges, our team remained dedicated and adaptive.

What was your personal highlight in the development process? Was there an aha!-moment, was there a low point?
Our highlight was phasing the design to address different needs effectively. The first version of MediConnect was not an app but an onboarding manual. It was the quickest and most effective solution given our limited time and resources to assist volunteers with the medical matching task. Later, we decided to develop an app incorporating technology like geolocation auto-matching to help volunteers solve problems more efficiently. The aha!-moment came when we realized the volunteers' enthusiasm for our product, as they continued to provide feedback and inquiries about future updates even six months after the medication assistance campaign ended. This ongoing engagement reassures us that our design genuinely helps users.

Where do you see yourself and the project in the next five years?
In the next five years, we envision amplifying the ideals of new-generation designers and encouraging more people to pay attention to social issues, enabling us to continue making a positive impact through our designs. The app provides a framework with utility extending beyond COVID-19, offering potential for resource distribution in various disasters and enhancing overall resource management. This will allow us to expand our reach and impact, addressing a broader range of challenges and supporting communities in need more effectively.
